September 5th
Janet French
"Does God have Borders and Speak English? Labor Day, the American Dream, and Faith of the Free"

To what does our faith call us in the common struggle to earn a living? Just who IS my neighbor, and WHAT was that to be done unto them? WHOSE kingdom on earth as in heaven? AND, what's all that got to do with a three day weekend?

September 12th
Rev. Roger Brewin
"Ingathering Service"

The formal start to our new church year, featuring the mingling of the waters ceremony. Be sure to bring a small sample of water gathered from your favorite place this summer - whether from the backyard pool, a river or lake of particular beauty on a trip, or a distant ocean shore. We will join all those waters in a common chalice, along with a few drops saved from last September's service, much as we gather ourselves and our gifts, in the ongoing community that we celebrate.

September 19th
Ordained United Methodist Minister Kalen Fristad
"Universalism: Past, Present, and Powerful"

After serving churches in Iowa for 27 years, Kalen Fristad embarked upon an independent ministry. He conducted this ministry full time from 2003-2006. It consisted of traveling around the country with his wife, Darlene, accepting invitations to speak to churches and other groups, countering the teaching that many people will suffer for eternity in hell and instead, proclaiming the hopeful message of universalism. He went back to the parish ministry in July 2006. As of January 2008, while continuing to serve churches in Iowa part-time, he resumed his traveling ministry, spending half time on the road speaking on the subject of universalism. Kalen has written a book, entitled; Destined for Salvation: God's Promise to Save Everyone, and a Study Book with the same title. His books, CDs and DVDs will be available for purchase after the service.

September 26th
Rev. Roger Brewin
"Making Peace a Priority"

For four years concerned folks within the UUA have struggled to find the words to express our collective commitment to Peace making. Now their work is done and ours begins - how do we alter our lives to make mere words into action?
