Gen X/Y Group To Begin Wednesday Worships
August 18th at 7pm

Younger members of the church are putting into motion a Wednesday Worship group at First UU in Hobart. This group, called the "Gen X/Y Group" will consist of young men and women aged 18-35 years old. The goal of the group is to provide a platform for 18-35 year olds to meet, mingle, socialize, and work together in discussing and living out UU principles. The monthly meeting date/time for this new group is tentatively scheduled for the third Wednesday of every month at 7pm. The inaugural meeting will take place August 18th. Children will be welcome and the group is working toward making child care available for the monthly meeting should participants need it. The service will be slightly more informal than regular Sunday services, but will still be held in the Sanctuary.

Additionally, the group is hoping to create other activities outside of the Wednesday worships- such as purely social outings, community outreach, and occasional fundraisers. If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a part of this group or assisting in anyway, please contact Kelly Mahler through the church office.

Lapghans for a Cause

You may have notice during church service and other events, a group who crochet and knit. Most of us are making lapghans. Kele Ivey started this project several years ago. Since then many lapghans have been knitted/crocheted and given, with love, to area nursing homes, survivors of Katrina, an Indian reservation, and to others.

The need is great. You can help by donating washable/dryer safe yarn (no wool) to this group. It can be brand new or yarn that you found at a garage sale. Most of the lapghans range from 30x30" to 36x36". If you knit, crochet, quilt, sew, please join us in the labor of love. Whether you can make one or many, your lapghans are appreciated. Contact Kele or Wendy through the church office for info.
