Guest at Your Table

This activity takes place around the holiday season.

For more than 60 years, the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee has advanced human rights and social justice in the United States and internationally. As an independent, membership organization, the UUSC promotes human rights and social justice worldwide with the support of 25,000 members and supporters. In other words us, you and me. The UUSC is an associate member organization of the Unitarian Universalist Association, but receives no general financial support from the UUA. More importantly, the UUSC does not receive and federal or state funding. We, the members and friends of the Hobart Church, contributed $1195 to Guest at Your Table last year.

Rummage Sale

A few times a year, the church puts on a Rummage Sale. Items are dropped off and donated and then these items are resold during the Rummage Sale weekend. The Rummage Sale helps raise money for the church, but more importantly it provides a plethora of items for the community that perhaps could not be obtained elsewhere or otherwise. Keep an eye on the Vanguard and the calendar for upcoming Rummage Sales.

Annual Book Sale

Every year books are donated for the Annual Book Sale. Books are then categorized and displayed for a weekend sale benefiting both the public and the church.

Jim Gordon Chili Cookoff

In honor of our dear friend, Jim Gordon, the church holds a Chili Cookoff every year. Contestants cook up a batch of chili and visitors and members alike can vote for their favorite recipes.

Soup Cookoff

Similar to the chili cookoff, the church also hosts an annual soup cookoff. The format is the same, with attendees voting on their favorite soup recipe.
